About

Debbie Rudolph in her studio

Debbie Rudolph is a sustainably minded textile designer-maker with a bold approach to creating unique textiles, using traditional techniques with contemporary values. A dedicated heritage weaver, she meticulously creates striking tapestries and homewares from her studio in Falmouth, drawing deeply from the rugged beauty of the Cornish coastline.

Her practice is a modern application of time-honoured skills, refined through extensive training in textiles, including a degree in Fashion and Textiles from the renowned Central Saint Martins School of Art. Utilising traditional tools like Glimakra Countermarch looms, Debbie hand-weaves various-sized, tapestries, cushions, homeware and looms. Her work reflects a commitment to sustainability; tapestries are often woven using repurposed rug wool and her own hand-spun, locally sourced wool, linen, and alpaca yarns.

Approaching each piece with an eye for composition, Debbie translates the rhythm of the sea and landscape into tactile art. She sketches coastal views and uses the inherent grid of the loom to build images that aim to connect the viewer with the natural world. A qualified teacher, she also shares her expertise by running workshops from her Falmouth studio, resulting in visually exciting and professionally finished textiles that bridge heritage craft with modern design.
